Effect of Celmanax® in Pig Diets in Response to an Immune Challenge

Introduction: Celmanax is an improved yeast culture product expressing more of the metabolites associated with the yeast culture fermentation process. Celmanax contains many complex carbohydrates like Mannan Oligosaccharides (MOS) and beta-glucans. Yeast culture and MOS containing products play an important role in improving overall intestinal well being and in modulating immune function in the animal.
Conclusion: Compared to the LPS-challenged control pigs, Celmanax supplemented pigs had a lower rectal temperature and respiratory rate during the first 4 hours after injection, which implied that Celmanax improves some aspect of the immune function and provides some benefit for weaned pigs during an immune challenge.
